I realise that I’ve been thoroughly lax of late in updating this blog. To recap what I’ve missed out, I am now officially going to be a PhD student as of September 2014 – my proposal was accepted and I’m all set and ready to go. That said, I’m currently crossing all fingers, toes and anything else I can that my funding application was successful.
With that in mind, I’ve been thinking of ways to improve my general and contextual historical knowledge, which essentially means reading as many random history books as possible. I also realise that I suffer from a general misanthropy which stops me talking to people, so I’m taking active steps on Twitter to engage with Black Country history. You can follow me now at @BlackCountryPics – all I’m doing is posting photos that I find of the past and present Black Country, and it’s amazing how many people are interested, and for how many these things ring a bell.
In terms of actual getting around and seeing some of this abundant history, this interminable rain puts a bit of a damper on things. Combine that with a new house that needs decorating and a new puppy that needs an ever-watchful eye on it, and it saps ones time a bit. But hopefully soon I’ll be back, posting on things I find.
